Susegana from above: San Salvatore Castle
On the road from Treviso, you can’t miss its tower and walls. San Salvatore Castle looks down on Susegana from on high, underlining its importance for the surrounding area.
The Collalto family had it built in the second half of the 13th century and it was a defensive stronghold throughout the Middle Ages, before being converted into a luxurious home and a local and European centre of art. Following restoration work to repair the damage caused by shelling in the First World War, it’s now a sophisticated venue that plays host to a variety of events.
Bask in the glorious views and visit the nearby village and the Venetian-style 18th century building with stunning works by great Veneto masters from the time!
